Dr Gurjinder Pal Singh Sodhi started his professional career as District Extension Specialist (Soil Science) at Farm Advisory Service Centre (FASC), Faridkot and Patiala (April 1992 to March 2008); Extension Specialist (Soil Science) at FASC, Patiala (March 2008 to November 2008) and was later elevated to Deputy Director (T) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Patiala (December 2008 - September 2009); Associate Director (T) at KVK, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib and Mansa (October 2009 - November 2020). He assumed the charge of Additional Director of Extension Education, PAU, Ludhiana wef 12.02.2021.

Dr Sodhi has 60 research publications to his credit. Thirty research papers have been published in national and international journals, six in NAAS (10.97-12.08), three in NAAS (8.0-10.97), five in NAAS (6.0-<8.0) and twelve in NAAS (<6.0) to his credit. He has 29 research papers presented at National level. He has contributed 24 book chapters (ICAR-ATARI & PAU books), 107 popular articles, 30 success stories, 28 popular articles in newspapers and 32 publications as leaflets, folders and extension bulletins.

As Extension Specialist, he has been instrumental in organizing fourteen Kisan Melas; developing 12 demo units and six self-help groups; and giving six recommendations which have been included in PAU’s Package of Practices for Kharif/Rabi Crops. He has been actively involved in successful management of whitefly in district of Mansa. Besides, he has delivered 60 radio and 21 television talks on transfer of latest and recommended technologies for knowledge benefit of farmers of the state. He has bagged two adhoc projects awarded by NABARD. He has also handled ten sponsored projects funded by ICAR, Sir Rattan Tata Trust, NHM etc. The revolving fund of KVK, Mansa elevated almost four times (from Rs. 4,99,574 during 2015-16 to Rs. 19,15,258 during 2020-21) under the leadership of Dr Sodhi.

Dr Sodhi is a recipient of one National Award (Nanaji Deshmukh ICAR Award 2019), one Zonal Award (Best Krishi Vigyan Kendra Award 2013) and three State Awards (GS Khush Team Award for Excellence in Transfer of Technology to Farmers 2015-16, Farm Literature Popularization Award and Exhibition Award during Kisan Melas). He has also been honoured with appreciation letter by PAU during 2011 and 2013; Deputy Director General (AE), ICAR, New Delhi in 2013 and Directorate of Extension Education, PAU during 2009 to 2012 for his outstanding contributions towards the farming community. He also has nine other accomplishments to his credit. Under his leadership, five farmers received Chief Minister Award and one farmer was awarded with Jagjiwan Ram Abhinav Farmer Award (ICAR).
