Five days vocational training on mushroom cultivation concluded at KVK Samrala on 01-March-2019 under the guidance of Dr. S.C. Sharma, ADT, KVK Samrala in which 28 trainees participated. Dr. Sharma apprised the participants about KVK's role in transfer of improved agricultural technologies and advised the farmers to strengthen the linkage with KVK. He also advised the farmers to adopt soil testing for improving soil health, nutritional gardening for chemical free vegetables & fruits and water saving technologies and also urged farmers to incorporate straw in the fields and not to burn paddy straw. Mrs. Avneet Kaur discussed about the prospects of Mushroom Cultivation and varieties that can be cultivated in Punjab. Farmers were made aware about the methods of compost preparation, spawn production, diseases of the mushrooms, processing of mushrooms etc. Dr. Shivani Rana, A.P(Home Sc) discussed about the drying of mushrooms and methods of value addition in mushrooms. Deputy Director (Horticulture), Dr. Harmail Singh discussed about schemes of government under National Horticultural Mission. Progressive farmer S. Hardaman Singh shared his experiences on mushroom growing with the farmers. Er. Karun Sharma created awareness about paddy straw management among the farmers. Guided visit to technology park of KVK was undertaken to highlight improved crop varieties, nutrition garden, solar operated micro irrigation system etc. On the last day of the training, exposure visit to Mushroom farm was also undertaken. |
