AWARENESS OF PRADHAN MANTRI KISAN SAMMAN NIDHI AT KVK, SAMRALA

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samrala organized an event to telecast of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi by Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi on 24.2.2019. About 109 Participants including officials, public representatives, farmers and farm women attended the programme. The telecast of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi’s addressal was aimed to acquaint the farming community about various programmes started and implemented by government for their betterment. Dr. S C Sharma, Associate Director (Trg), KVK, Samrala welcomed the chief guest, guest of honor, officials and participants. He emphasized on the need of resource conservation, adoption of advanced recommended technologies for increasing their income. He also highlighted benefits PM Kisan Samman Nidhi to farming community. Mrs. Manjit Kaur, Member, Board of Management, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, was the chief guest of the occasion. She motivated the gathering to establish linkages with KVK for better agricultural practices and take benefit of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and appreciated the efforts of the Govt. Mr. Avtar Singh, PCS (Tehsildar, Samrala) was the guest of honour, detailed about PM Kisan Nidhi Scheme and emphasized on the need of adopting subsidiary occupation for doubling farmer income. Mr. Parveen Bhatia, DDM, NABARD highlighted various schemes of NABARD for farmers. Dr. Devinder Tiwari, A.P. Extension Education, motivated the farmers and farm women to form self-help groups, Farmer interest groups and FPOs for value addition and direct marketing of farm produce. Er. Karun Sharma, elaborated on Paddy Straw Management techniques and care and maintenance of farm machinery. Dr. Aman Sharma awared the farmers regarding possibilities of Karnal bunt incidence in wheat seed crop and remedial measures to be taken in advance. Mrs Avneet Kaur, stressed upon the need of adopting subsidiary occupation such as Mushroom cultivation for increasing agriculture income. Dr. Harshneet Singh, adviced the farmers to get tested their soils for balanced use of fertilizers. During interactive session the queries of the participants were also addressed by the experts of the KVK. An exhibition was also organized to highlight the activities of various self help groups. A guided tour of the technology park depicting wheat varieties, happy seeder sown wheat, nutrition garden, seed production plots was also conducted for the farmers. Dr. Amarjeet Kaur proposed the vote of thanks.
