AGRI. OFFICIALS TRAINED AT PAMETI

The recently joined Agricultural Development Officers (ADOs) were trained at PAMETI from 28th January 2019 to 2nd February 2019 regarding the recent developments in the field of extension, information technology and human resource management. The training program was inaugurated by Dr N S Malhi, Former VC, Guru Kashi University and urged the participants to sincerely dispense their duties in the interest of farming community. The trainees were apprised about the objective of the training program by Dr H S Dhaliwal, Director, PAMETI, who encouraged the officials to utilize the opportunity of learning through such programs in the best possible manner. He also urged the participants about encouraging the farmers to set up entrepreneurial ventures such as Road Side Display to augment their income. The training was attended by 72 officials.

Resource persons from PAU, Dr R K Kalra, Former Head of Deptt., Extension Education informed the participants about the basics of extension and its corresponding role in agricultural development. Dr R K Dhaliwal, DSW, PAU brilliantly explained the participants about the ways to deliver radio and tv talk. She precisely highlighted the importance of content, context and effective communication to address the issues concerning the farming fraternity. Dr S S Gill, Former Director Extension, PAU emphasized the need for effective research through extension and farmer linkages. The other resource persons highlighted the need for work-life balance, anger management and attitudinal modification to improve efficiency. They also highlighted the importance and need of delegating to ensure smooth functioning at work.

Ms Shivani Singh, Life Coach for Soft Skills stressed on the role of understanding personality for better extension and discussed methods to discover and improve one’s personality. Mr. Gurpreet Singh Shergill, National Awardwinning Progressive Farmer, interacted with the trainees about processing & marketing of various agricultural products.

Also, the Deputy Directors from PAMETI interacted with the participants and highlighted the methods of effective extension, agri-preneurship for income enhancement and role of ICT in agriculture.

Dr H S Dhaliwal thanked the participants for attending the training workshop and exhorted them to serve their department and farming fraternity with utmost honesty and integrity.
