FASC, Kapurthala and scientists from Plant breeding section jointly organised a Farmer-Scientist Interaction under “Wheat Development Programme” of Punjab Agricultural University for production of wheat with improved grain quality at village Dhaliwal Bet, Block Dhilwan. During this process, Dr Jayesh Singh Senior Agronomist, Dr Achla Sharma Assistant wheat breeder, Dr Pardeep Kumar District Extension Specialist (Senior Most) and Dr Harpreet Singh District Extension Specialist (Plant Pathology) sensitized the farmers about improvement of grain quality of wheat variety Unnat PBW 550. Wheat growers were made aware of PAU technologies of wheat management to improve grain quality by applying two sprays of potassium nitrate @ 4 kg/acre in 200 litres of water at flag leaf stage and anthesis stage or two sprays of 15 gm growth regulator salicylic acid dissolved in 450 ml ethyl alcohol using 200 litres of water at flag leaf stage and milk stage. Further the farmers were guided to adopt Good Agricultural Practices (GAPS) through the judicious use of recommended pesticides at right time for the management of insect-pests and diseases. Among the farmers S Piara Singh, Gurdev Singh, Amrik Singh, Makhan Singh, Balwinder Singh, Bakshish Singh, Gurmail Singh, Darbara Singh, Satbir Singh and Partap Singh were present. |
