Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Langroya, SBS Nagar, generated awareness regarding Crop Residue Management through Mobilization of School Students via Slogan Writings and Paintings from 25.10.2018-02.11.2018 at four different schools of the district under the supervision of Dr. Manoj Sharma (Associate Director) and District Education Officer (Mrs. P.M. Sandhu) and concerning school principals. KVK Langroya conducted slogans and paintings competitions in the govt.schools of four area of districts i.e Langroya, Nawanashahr, Katatrian and Snawa. A total of 367 school students have participated in this event and educational material were distributed. KVK Langroya also organized a rally for the mobilization of school students at Shaheed Udham Singh School, Kattarian to curb the practice of paddy residue burning. The Programme was commenced by Dr. Manpreet Jaidka, AP (Agronomy) who also explained the various technological interventions pertaining to in-situ crop residue management. Dr Jaidka also organized the rally of the students. Dr. Manoj Sharma, Associate Director (Trg.), KVK SBS Nagar gave a brief overview of the activities of KVK. He highlighted the harmful effects of burning of crop residue burning and laid stress on the proper management of paddy residue through the use of farm machinery. He also informed that management of paddy residue is of utmost importance at this moment and stressed upon the proactive role to be played by school students in spreading this message. In the end Dr. Shikha Bathla and Mrs. Renu Bala Demonstrator Home science thanked District Education Officer (Mrs. P.M. Sandhu), the school students and staff for co-operating and also in providing wholehearted support in making this event successful.
