The monthly training camp of PAU Kisan Club was held at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today, wherein a total of 370 farmers and farm women from different parts of Punjab participated. The camp was held under the guidance of Dr J.S. Mahal, Director of Extension Education, PAU.
Addressing the farmers, the Coordinator Dr T.S. Riar said that cooperative farming could reduce the cost of production.
Dr S.K. Sandhu, an expert from Oilseeds Section, dwelt on the cultivation of oilseed crops.
Dr M.K. Narang, farm machinery expert, explained the management of paddy straw in fields, while Dr Laveesh Garg, PAU scientist, shed light on gaining of agricultural knowledge through electronic media.
During the camp for rural women, experts namely Dr Ruma Devi, Dr Kiranjit Kaur Dhatt and Dr J.S. Brar informed about kitchen garden concept, cultivation of seasonal flowers and cultivation of fruits, respectively.
Earlier, Manpreet Singh Grewal, President of the Club, welcomed the farmers and the farm women. Later, S Amarinder Singh proposed the vote of thanks. |
