PAU, REGIONAL STATION, FARIDKOT BAGS THREE RESEARCH GRANTS

Punjab Agricultural University, Regional Station, Faridkot has bagged three Research Projects, one each from Department of Biotechnology and Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The DST Project has been awarded to Ms. Shelja Sandal under WOS A scheme under the mentorship of Dr Satnam Singh. The project carries monthly fellowship of Rs 40,000/- for a period of three years and working contingency of 3 lakhs per year. The second project awarded to Dr. Aman Sharma and Dr. Satnam Singh is on the “Popularization of foldscope in Diagnostics in Agriculture” by DBT. The objective of this project is to Popularizing microscopy among the extension workers and farmers for identification and diagnosis of crop pests. Foldscope having 140 X magnification is a low cost instrument which will take the microscopy to the fields till now limited to labs only. This instrument has a huge scope to familiarize masses with microscopy at field level. The third project is on “Carbon and water foot printing of different cropping systems under variable climatic conditions in irrigated agro-ecosystems of Punjab. The project aims to identify the minimum carbon emitting and water saving resource conservation technologies suitable for different cropping system. Dr Sudhir Mishra, Assistant Agrometeorologist is the Principal Investigator, and Dr. Ajmer Singh Brar, Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Dr. Kulvir Singh, and Dr (Mrs) Neeraj Rani are the CO-PIs of this project
