As many as 300 alumni from India, USA, New Zealand and Canada congregated at Senior Secondary School, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), to attend the fourth alumni meet, where pleasant camaraderie and recollections were the hallmark.

Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, was the chief guest, while Sardar Harkanwaljit Singh, SDM, Baghapurana, was the guest of honour at the meet.

Dating back to the origin of the school at PAU campus in 1970, Dr Gosal disclosed, “My deep association with this world famous agri-varsity commenced in 1972. At that time, it was desired that a school for educating the wards of PAU employees must be established within the campus.” Lauding the PAU school for emerging as one of the best government schools of Punjab, Dr Gosal observed that this school has literally striven hard to make a mark and moved from glory to glory in academics, sports and cultural activities.

In his welcome address, the President of the alumni association Sardar Ajaypal Singh Punia informed that several alumni were honoured for excellence in education and co-curricular activities. Introducing the presently enrolled students to the traditional tress planted in the school premises, Sardar Punia urged the youth to be a devoted environmentalist for the preservation of the trees.

While enumerating the detailed programme, the Olympian Sardar Hardeep Singh, Chief Guardian of the association, told that alumni, namely Ms Ravinder Kaur from Google, US; Sardar Randeep Sandhu from Canada; Sardar Hardeep Singh from USA; Dr SS Walia, Director of PAU’s School of Organic Farming; Mr Rajesh Kumar Shahi, SDM Harkanwaljit Singh; and Mr Sanjeev Prabhakar were felicitated on the occasion.

The School Principal Mrs Balwinder Kaur proposed a vote of thanks.

National Awardee Hazhoorsharan Bedi, and Mrs Gurcharn Kaur, Mrs Paramjit Kaur, Mr Purshotam Lal, Sardar Jagdeep Singh and Mrs Gurvinder Kaur were among the faculty members present on the occasion. A total of 100 alumni serving at PAU and Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University also joined the meet.
